Wix has its own built-in cookie banner, which shows your visitors a cookie banner and holds back tracking code until they say yes.
Converly works with the Wix cookie banner, so visitors who accept marketing cookies are tracked as normal and visitors who decline aren't tracked at all.
To set it up, follow the instructions below:
Step 1: Turn on the Wix cookie banner
If your cookie banner is already showing on your site, you can skip straight to Step 2.
If not, the first step is to switch it on. In your Wix dashboard, go to Settings, then Privacy & Cookies. Click Add to Site, then Agree & Add, and switch on Show banner. The basic banner is free.
Step 2: Set the Converly code to Marketing
By default, Wix treats any custom code as "Essential", which means it runs for every visitor whether they accept cookies or not. So the next step is to tell Wix that Converly is a marketing tool.
In your Wix dashboard, go to Settings, then Custom Code, and find the Converly code you added when you installed Converly. Open it, click the Code Type tab, and choose Marketing. Then click Apply.
That's all you need to change. Wix now holds the Converly code back until a visitor accepts marketing cookies.
Step 3: Test it works
That's it! The final step is to test it, and it only takes a couple of minutes.
First, open a new incognito window (or private window) and go to your website. When the cookie banner appears, decline marketing cookies. Then submit a test entry through one of your forms.
Now open the Activity page in Converly. The test entry should NOT appear there, because Converly never ran for that visitor.
Next, close that window, open another new incognito window, and go to your website again. This time accept marketing cookies (or click accept all), then submit another test entry. Head back to the Activity page, and this time the test conversion should show up within a moment.
If both of those happen, your cookie banner is holding Converly back properly.
