Mailchimp signup forms let visitors join your mailing list from your website. This guide turns accepted signups through supported embedded forms into conversions you can send to your ad platforms.

There is no account to connect. To set it up, follow the instructions below:

Before you start: Install the normal Converly code on the website page containing your Mailchimp form. Follow Install Converly for your website's installation instructions, and make sure the form is live.

This integration covers embedded Classic forms with Mailchimp's supporting script, and plain embedded forms that return visitors to your site. Mailchimp pop-up signup forms are not covered. Mailchimp-hosted signup pages, hosted landing pages and Shopify app embeds are also outside this integration.

For a plain embed without Mailchimp's supporting script, open the form's Success step and set External link to a thank-you page on the same website. Add ?converly=mailchimp to the address, or &converly=mailchimp if it already contains a question mark. Install the same Converly code on both the form page and thank-you page. The return must happen in the same tab in less than 2 minutes. Forms that stay on Mailchimp's success page are not counted.

Signups that leave your page for Mailchimp's reCAPTCHA check are not counted, even if the visitor completes the check there.

Step 1: Create a flow

A flow is the rule that turns a form submission into a conversion. Click Flows in the left sidebar, then Create New Flow, and give it a name like "Contact form leads".

You land in the flow builder. It is empty for now. Click Add Trigger to choose what starts this flow.

Step 2: Choose Mailchimp

A panel slides in from the right listing every lead capture tool Converly supports, grouped by type.

Click Mailchimp. If you do not see it straight away, scroll the panel or use the search box at the top.

Step 3: Choose where it fires

Converly does not ask you to choose a Mailchimp audience or form. It listens for supported signups on your site. The page setting is how you narrow that down to the form you actually want to count.

Read this before you choose

If you do not set a specific page, every supported Mailchimp signup on your site can count as the same conversion. That includes a newsletter form in your footer as well as a signup form on its own page.

Option 1: Trigger on all pages

A conversion fires whenever someone completes a supported Mailchimp signup on any page of your site. Only choose this if all those signups should count as the same conversion.

The page selection screen with All Pages selected
All Pages includes every supported Mailchimp signup form.

Option 2: Trigger on specific pages

To count a signup form on https://www.yoursite.com/newsletter, select Specific Pages and enter /newsletter. The path is the part after your domain. Start it with a slash, and do not include the domain.

For plain forms that redirect, enter the original form page, not the thank-you page.

Click Add another page if you want to include more than one page, or the x to remove one.

If two Mailchimp forms share one page

Page filtering cannot separate forms or audiences on the same page. Put each form on its own page if you want separate conversions. Multiple Classic embeds on one page can also interfere with Mailchimp's success messages, so they may not be counted reliably. Do not mix Classic and plain embeds on one page as a workaround.

The Specific Pages option selected with example page paths entered
Specific Pages uses the page containing the signup form.

When you have picked an option, click Set trigger.

What happens next

A trigger on its own does not send anything yet. Next you add one or more destinations (Google Ads, Meta, and so on) and publish the flow. See Building a flow for that part.

A returning subscriber who signs up again counts again. If you use double opt-in, the conversion counts when Mailchimp accepts the signup, before the subscriber confirms by email.

Converly can collect the standard email, first name, last name and phone fields. Separate SMS fields and other custom fields are not included in contact matching.

That's it! The final step is to test your setup in a new incognito window. Submit the live form with a real email address. For a plain embed, complete the return to your marked thank-you page. Then click Logs in Converly's left sidebar and check the destination results for your test. You can read more about how to properly test your setup here.

If submissions are not showing up later, check that Converly is installed on the required pages, that any page filter names the original form page, and that the flow is Active rather than Draft. For plain embeds, check the converly=mailchimp marker, the same-tab return and whether the browser blocks storage.
